The Leipzig Veterinary Congress, including the Vetexpo trade fair, takes place every two years in the trade fair city of Leipzig and is the largest continuing education event for veterinarians in Germany. In our blog article, we present this trade fair in more detail and give you an overview of the exhibition stands at Vetexpo.
At the Vetexpo exhibition, more than 240 exhibitors will present their products from the fields of pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, dietetics, medical technology, practice management and communication technology for veterinary practices. Veterinarians can attend over 450 lectures, seminars, workshops and training courses at the Leipzig Veterinary Congress and exchange ideas with each other. The CAREER CORNER job fair, which has been integrated into the trade fair, will also take place again.
Due to the current pandemic development, the Veterinary Congress will not take place at the beginning of the year in 2022, but in the summer from July 7 to 9.

The biennial Leipzig Veterinary Congress was held for the first time in 1998. The professional training is accompanied by the Vetexpo trade fair. At the 10th anniversary event in 2022, the TÄK last recorded 6,200 participants from 26 countries, according to the organizers. This makes the Leipzig Veterinary Congress, including the Vetexpo trade fair, the largest continuing education event for veterinarians in Germany.
The TÄK is aimed at practitioners and veterinarians in the livestock and pet sectors, as well as veterinarians from public institutions, the veterinary sector, science and industry. The opening event with welcoming and ceremonial speeches will be held by leading figures from the industry, and keynote speeches will round off the opening program of the veterinary congress.
The Leipzig Veterinary Congress is jointly organized by Leipziger Messe, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Leipzig University and the veterinary chambers in Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
Vetexpo is the accompanying trade fair at the Leipzig Veterinary Congress and provides an overview of new products and information about the everyday work of veterinarians. The major veterinary pharmaceutical companies, companies for feed and health products, diagnostic equipment, surgical instruments or biobanks for veterinary medicine can be found as exhibitors at Vetexpo.
With our Event-Metrics WLAN technology, we were able to measure visitor behavior at the TÄK in order to evaluate valuable performance data. This enables both organizers and exhibitors to optimize their trade fair stand concept and evaluate the success of live marketing measures.
The following results were measured over the two days of the Vetexpo 2020 trade fair:
Trade fair visitors per day: just under 3,000 unique visitors: this suggests that not all congress participants visit the trade show. Both days were similarly well attended. The volume of visitors to the veterinary congress is also interesting.
Trade fair visitors per hour: Between 100 and 200 people; the number of trade fair visitors peaks at 10 a.m., after which the figure falls steadily.
Average length of stay: Between 10 and 14 minutes; The length of stay is highest in the afternoon.
Trade fair visitors per hour: Between 140 and 210 people; the peak is only reached at the end of the event at 6 p.m.
Average dwell time: Between 10 and 15 minutes; dwell time is highest in the afternoon
