Virtual reality vs. augmented reality: which is better suited to your trade fair stand?
If you are planning your exhibition stand, you have probably already realised that it is important to offer visitors a unique experience The days of...
Every trade fair exhibitor wants to attract as many visitors as possible to their stand. Make contact and communicate with them. To present their company verbally. But how do companies manage to attract trade fair visitors to their stand? How do they break the ice?
In addition to the unique design concept of your trade fair stand, an interactive trade fair stand can also help to attract visitors directly to your stand.
Trade fair stand attractions can be many things. An attraction can be a very well-planned exhibition stand with various highlights such as LED video walls. Classic graphic elements combined with lighting elements. Accessories that stand out.
But if that's not enough, other attractions can help. Interactive attractions! These can be games, simulators, challenges or even gastronomic highlights. Ideally, they should be related to your company or product. Also bear in mind that visitors must receive or win something. Regardless of whether they win the game or not. They should be rewarded for their interactions.
It is crucial that it suits you as a company and that you don't overload your interactive trade fair stand with attractions. It still needs to be inviting. Be an eye-catcher! If you are unsure about what fits and what doesn't, discuss your plans with your stand builder. They can incorporate interactive highlights into the stand planning and design the concept accordingly.
It is not necessarily everyone's cup of tea to be embarrassed to take part in an interaction in front of other trade fair visitors or strangers. Shame plays a certain role here. It just depends on the type. So our tip: take a two-pronged approach and offer an alternative to the actual attraction or interaction.
Playing small games at the trade fair stand is a classic. This can be anything from a simple dice game to “4 wins”. At sports fairs, something sport-specific is of course suitable, preferably in a modified form so that it is a highlight.
More “elaborate” games are also very suitable, such as a small roulette table or blackjack. Who wouldn't want to challenge their luck?
If it's not gambling you're after, you can also take your cue from a classic village fair. Many fairground attractions take visitors back to their childhood. Games such as duck fishing, shooting galleries or can throwing were, and still are, very popular fairground attractions. Why not use them on your trade fair stand too? Just maybe a little more modern! If you opt for a shooting gallery, for example, nowadays there are guns equipped with harmless lasers instead of live ammunition. You can hire this highlight for your exhibition stand with all the accessories you need.
Be creative when it comes to interaction at your trade fair stand!
People love a challenge! Small and large puzzles are therefore very suitable. It is important that the puzzles do not necessarily take a lot of time and that they are solvable. Your prospect should be motivated and see an opportunity to solve the puzzle so that they have a sense of achievement. If it takes them 20 minutes to solve the puzzle, then it will be difficult.
Puzzles that can be solved in 1 - 3 minutes are ideal. There are many possibilities. This can be a puzzle that your trade fair visitors have to solve with paper and pencil, but visually larger puzzles (key point: eye-catcher!) are also recommended. An example of this is 3D Tetris made of foam blocks, from which a cube has to be built.
A happy hour can be a good element if there are empty times at the stand itself or at the trade fair. Announce the happy hour to attract as many visitors as possible to your stand at a specific time. Of course, a special promotion or interaction that does not otherwise take place on the day of the trade fair must also take place during happy hour. A countdown on one or more LED video walls is ideal for promoting happy hour. These can be easily integrated into your trade fair stand so that they are immediately visible to trade fair visitors. Important: Make sure you have enough staff at your stand at this time to cope with the rush of visitors.
Challenge trade fair visitors to a small challenge! True to the motto: Beat the company! Of course, fun should not be neglected here. Every employee has to have a go. Even the boss. The advantage of such challenges is that they break the ice relatively quickly. The inhibition threshold for starting a conversation is very low, even if it's just a small “competition”. After the challenge, a clever transition can be made to a technical discussion.
Interactive tables or short video games can be used for challenges.
Who can resist a free original Italian latte macchiato or an original Berlin currywurst? Offer trade fair visitors a little culinary treat. If you come from a city or region where there is a special treat that can only be found there, why not offer this culinary delicacy? Many people are curious, like to try out new things or want to broaden their culinary horizons. Take advantage of this. And while you're waiting for your food, you can talk shop.
An eye-catcher that arouses curiosity! Simulators are available in various shapes, colors and, above all, with a wide variety of simulations. Be a real captain on a boat, fly into space in a space shuttle or drive along a race track like Sebastian Vettel. The choice is huge. Why not offer your visitors a special experience with the help of a simulator? An eye-catching, but also more cost-intensive form of interactive exhibition stand.
Exhibition stands are becoming increasingly digital. It therefore makes sense to also offer interactions for exhibition stands in digital form. MediaDisplays are ideal for integrating a digital eye-catcher into your trade fair stand. What are MediaDisplays?
MediaDisplays are available in different shapes and sizes. A MediaDisplay can look like an oversized cell phone, but it can also tower like a square column at your interactive trade fair presentation. There is the right variant for every trade fair stand. A major advantage is that you can “feed” the MediaDisplay with content as you wish. From the simplest presentations to interactive games that trade fair visitors can play directly on the MediaDisplay.

Not what you think! Into a virtual world. Develop, or have a virtual world developed, in which your trade fair stand visitors discover things that they don't get to see at your trade fair stand. “Promote” the virtual world with a cool slogan on your interactive trade fair stand that makes people curious to find out more! Take your prospective customers on a very special virtual journey.
Thanks to VR glasses!
Of course, not every form of attraction and interaction is suitable for every company. Try to combine the attractions with your offer. This will create an initial link to the product or service. Nevertheless, additional attractions or interactions with trade fair visitors are a special eye-catcher that arouse curiosity, encourage communication and invite visitors to linger longer at the stand.
Another important point: does my attraction suit my target group? An attraction can be an ingenious eye-catcher, but if your target group does not feel addressed, it will be difficult to attract trade fair visitors to your stand.
